Chemo starts on October 20th 2008

We went to see the Oncologist at 9:30am and we have to say......... he is sooooooooooooo nice.. such a compassionate man.. very very sweet ..
Dr Nabong...
He said that this is a very high risk cancer and we have to be aggressive with it..
We went to do bloodwork and then in another week Mathew will go to Banner Gateway to have a Porta Cath !!! put in.. think that's what it is called.. Anyway it will be in the higher chest area towards his neck and this will remain their until they are sure there is no more need for it.. At least 6 months..

His chemo will be every 2 weeks starting on Monday 20th, 21st and then on the 22nd he will go to just have a pump removed... (the cath will stay in for the duration of the chemo)
This will continue every two weeks.. each session taking 3 hours each Monday and Tuesday... pump out on the wednesdays..

There is a good chance with this chemo that he will NOT lose his hair..
It is vital that he stays as healthy as possible because if his bloodwork comes back not good each time before his chemo sessions he will NOT get the chemo that week...
We NEED him to get this chemotherapy.. Prayers will be needed....
I will update more as we know more.
Thank you all..... Maxine

We'll pray for Mathew to stay healthy enough for chemo and to get well soon.

It was nice visiting with you guys today. Your brother is a real hoot! Thanks for not getting mad at me for giving Sholann so much junk....

Hey there from Texas! I love this blog... I need to figure out how to do one. Lorena has one too. I will have to send you her site. anyway, Mathew and Maxine, yall are in every prayer we say here. We love you and know you will get through this, It may not be fun or easy, but remember we are praying for you and that we love you so much. Getting old stinks. :) I have been crippled for almost 9 years now. So, I know all about trials and pain. Chris on the other hand, his biggest trial is that he has to HELP me. Poor guy. anyway, we love you. You look great and I pray you will be in limited pain. Love always, Gina and Chris
